Yeah, whoever put that parody together was creative..... Carpenter said he hated dealing with the executives at 20th Century Fox....they didn't support the film & marketed "Aliens" instead.....I told you he probably didn't play politics in Hollywood very well.....good news is it has become a cult classic....the director of "Thor Ragnorok" said he was inspired by it. Yeah, I have to agree with John Carpenter here. Those executives at 20th Century Fox were a bunch of dumb-asses. Personally, I think that "Big Trouble in Little China" was such an entertaining film that it deserved a sequel back in the day. Too bad that it bombed at the box office instead. It would have been interesting to see what John Carpenter could have done with it. Hopefully it wouldn't have turned out nearly as bad as "Escape From L.A." did?

That is a cool profile pic Rock, I can't believe the knuckleheads at 20th Century Fox didn't want Kim Cattrall for "Big Trouble in Little China"......Kurt demanded she be in it.
"Escape From New York" I have never gotten on DVD or Blu Ray.....maybe I should, I read somewhere & you can correct me if I am wrong, that John Carpenter hates sequels in general & that is why he refused "Halloween II" & only directed "Escape from L.A." so Hollywood would quit bugging him about it, rumor has it he intended for it to be bad just to give Hollywood the finger....I will say that after 15 years between films Kurt Russell did not age much....Russell has said Snake has been his favorite role & it shows.

"Were doomed!!!....C-3PO...."Captain Solo this time you have gone too far"......
"Would it help if got out & pushed?...Princess Leia....."It might"...Han Solo
"Drop them Dr. Jones...they will be found...you won't!!...hahahahahahahaha!!!....Mola Ram (Temple of Doom)
"Jones do you realize what the Ark is?....it is a transmitter for speaking to God & it is within my reach" Belloq....(Raiders of the Lost Ark)
"Sit back Penguin, the only confession you hear today is when you confess to me you got it" Billy Crystal to the phony nun in "Running Scared"
"She's kind of young for you isn't she Ritchie....I got a balloon for ya"....Pennywise in "Stephen King's IT"

What are you waiting for then? You've gotta get a copy of "Escape From New York" now. I saw it the year that it opened with a friend of mine one Friday night and we were both blown away with how good it was. I've been a huge fan of it ever since then and have watched it many times now over the years. Even Dan Bongino mentioned it the other day on his podcast and said how it's still just as good today as it ever was. So many great performances in it too such as Donald Pleasence as the President. Ernest Borgnine as Cabbie. Harry Dean Stanton as "Brain". Lee Van Cleef as Bob Hauk. Adrienne Barbeau as Maggie. *Wolf whistles.* I could go on and on. James Cameron of Terminator and Avatar fame even helped with the special effects on the film. The movie is truly a masterpiece of filmmaking. As for "Escape From L.A.", while it is basically just a lame retread of the original, it still has some really good things about it, but, in my opinion it should have never been made. I still give it a watch from time to time but it just can't touch the original. Not even close.

More one-liners.... "Jones do you realize what the Ark is?....it is a transmitter for speaking to God & it is within my reach" Belloq....(Raiders of the Lost Ark) Haha! This reminds me of another favorite line from Belloq in that movie... Belloq: "What a fitting end to your life's pursuits. You're about to become a permanent addition to this archaeological find. Who knows? In a thousand years, even you may be worth something?" Indiana: "Ha ha ha! Son of a bitch."

I remember "Escape From New York" when it came out....I was 10 years old & couldn't go see it....my dad talked about taking me to see it...but it never happened....I did however see it 2 years later in 1983 when we first got cable T.V. which was new at the time.....I thought it was the coolest movie ever.....but then I never could find it to buy on video tape.....didn't see it again until 1999 when I caught it on cable again....at the time DVD's were fairly new & it wasn't available yet....so yeah, this is one that has flew under my radar....just like "Highlander"....got it a few years back....so yeah I have to get "Escape From New York".....also recently got "Action Jackson"....another one that had flew under the radar.....
"Escape From L.A." should have had Snake accepting Hauk's offer to join the force & them facing a new threat, but given that Lee Van Cleef was no longer with us, they could have had Snake stepping into his shoes to deal with a new threat.....they really missed an oppurtunity to expand on the character I think.

Yes, Belloq was another cool villain, but Mola Ram is right up there Kahn....."you don't believe me...you will Dr. Jones...you will become a truuue believerrrr..hahaha".......
"Raiders" & Temple of Doom" will always be the best Indy films....I know many didn't like "Temple of Doom" but I liked that it was intentionally different from "Raiders".....my only gripe is Speilberg not casting Sharon Stone in the Willie Scott role, nothing against Kate Capshaw, but Stone would have had better chemistry with Ford no doubt.....I think she would have given Karen Allen a run for her money as a female lead.......
Belloq to Indy...."please sit down before you fall down...we can at least act like civilized people"
One line I remember from "Escape from New York".........."you can't meet the Duke are you crazy, noboby gets to meet the Duke, you meet him once & then your dead"
speaking of Adrienne Barbeau.....
In "Back to School" as Rodney Dangerfield's wife
"I have absolutely nothing to wear"
"you got six closets full of nothing to wear" or "Hey Vanessa, let's talk about class for a minute....here is you and Gorgio in the guest room, real classy.. here is you & Gorgio in the dining room, another classy one... oh, & this one I can't figure out, here's you, Gorgio, & what's with the midget over here....where you going I got more."......
There will never be another Rodney Dangerfield.
"Back to School" is another summer 1986 film competing with "Big Trouble in Little China" that didn't do well.....so was Stallone's "Cobra" which also bombed.....what was it with that summer....were people just not going to the movies???.....or was everyone going to see "Top Gun" over & over again......even "Psycho III" bombed that summer too.

Now that would be a great idea for a new sequel to the Escape movies rather than them doing a remake of the original. They could do an all-new adventure starring Snake Plissken much like Hollywood did with "Mad Max: Fury Road", or what Dwayne Johnson is planning to do with his "Big Trouble in Little China" sequel. But they would have to find the perfect person to play the role of Snake, someone new and unknown. I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel to "Escape From New York" either. Anything would be preferable than them remaking the original.

All of the Indiana Jones films are great. I even enjoyed "Crystal Skull" which a lot of people seemed to hate. But "Last Crusade" is probably my favorite in the series. They have them all currently streaming on Netflix and I was thinking of giving them all a viewing again as it's been years since I last saw them and I do not own them on DVD or Blu-ray.

You got to get the "Indy" DVD's.....or Blu-Ray....I recently got them on Blu Ray but have not watched them yet...so I don't know if they have the same special features as the DVD's.......yeah, "Last Crusade" was just as good...."Crystal Skull" was fun no doubt, but I can't help but feel that everyone's heart was not in it, especially Karen Allen....Ford seemed to be having fun though. Oh, man! That theme song gives me chills every time that I hear it! That was another great thing about "Escape From New York"... the amazing soundtrack by John Carpenter! I really need to add that soundtrack to my collection one of these days. Here's a great remix of "The Duke Arrives" from the movie. If this doesn't make your feet move and your head bob up and down and back and forth then you better check your pulse cuz' you are dead. John Carpenter - The Duke Arrives (remix)

Isaac Hayes looks a lot like this guy I used to work with.....the Duke had a cool theme....one scene that stands out for me is the scene where Hauk is leaning foward over the outside railing as the helicopters fly overhead....& that look of concern he has as he watches them fly into New York wondering if Snake is alive or not....not only did he want the mission to succeed but you could tell he liked Snake & wanted him to make it back....Lee Van Cleef played that scene to perfection.

The Duke: [Snake's been captured after getting shot in the leg with an arrow] "Who are you?" [Snake says nothing, staring defiantly; the Duke grabs the arrow in Snake's leg and twists it]
The Duke: "I said, WHO ARE YOU?!" [Snake... in obvious agony, still says nothing]
Brain: "Snake Plissken, Duke... the Man sent him in. Somethin's goin' down, we need him..."
The Duke: [releases the arrow] "Snake Plissken... I've heard of you." [strikes Snake with a tire iron, knocking him unconscious] The Duke: "I heard you were dead!"

more one-liners....

Aww, man, you could have gotten the collector's edition of "EFNY" on Blu-ray! I don't know why Amazon makes it so hard to find? Just type in Escape From New York Collector's Edition. It is currently going for $22 dollars. That's the one that I have. It's a 2-disc set and comes with a lot of extras. Oh, well, like you said, you can always add it to your collection later. Plus, you can see a lot of the extras on You Tube. That's where that deleted opening scene came from that I posted above. And speaking of the movie "Jaws", did you see this video? A great white shark smashes into a shark cage while a man was in it, and he somehow makes it out of there alive! Crazy. Great White Shark Breaks Into Diver's Cage [CAUGHT ON TAPE]

Now here is a very relevant and interesting movie quote that bears repeating... "North America's getting soft, patron, and the rest of the world is getting tough. Very, very tough. We're entering savage new times, and we're going to have to be pure and direct and strong, if we're going to survive them. Now, you and this cesspool you call a television station and your people who wallow around in it, your viewers who watch you do it, they're rotting us away from the inside. We intend to stop that rot." ~ Videodrome

Thanks for the heads up Rock, I was able to cancel the DVD & get the Blu-Ray Collector's Edition of "Escape From New York"....like you said it doesn't come up unless you type it in, was able to get "Child's Play" too as well....did not even know it was available on Blu-Ray......somtimes I don't know about Amazon.....they need some serious competition.....I mean there is Ebay....but they are not as user friendly which works to Amazon's advantage.....we need another "Tower Records" & "Media Play" to give Amazon a run for their money...they have gotten too big......they are now wanting to open up grocery stores across the U.S......& they continue to fued with Disney......talk about two ego-maniac companies.....Disney wants to acquire Hollywood & Amazon wants to acquire everything else.

Sharks are mean SOBs!!!......My mom has this picture of me & her dated July 1975.....I was about 4 years old & we are standing on the beach in Tampa, FL.......practically no one is in the water behind us in the photo.....this was the year "Jaws" came out.......people really did stay out of the water.

Haha! Yeah, I can still remember that Summer as a kid. A neighbor's mom took all of us kids to the beach one day, and everyone was afraid to go out too deep into the water after having seen the Jaws movie. Like a shark could ever possibly be swimming around in a man-made beach with no connection to the ocean!

I finally got "Superman II The Richard Donner Cut" on Blu-Ray & I have to say I liked it better than I did back in 2006 when first released.....although I wished they had left the Mount Rushmore scene & the villians flying over the canyon lake scene in this cut & Superman returning the American Flag back to the White House, but overall this version is a bit better, Margot Kidder's hairstyle is more consistent here, plus her jumping out of the window to reveal Clark as Superman was better too....man, was Kidder hot back then....
From the deleted scene...when the villians try to enter the Fortress, Non gets hit with a force field...
Luthor to Non....."funny, the door was always open for me".

Speaking of Superman, have you seen "Man of Steel" starring Henry Cavill yet? I watched it again for the 2nd time last week and thought that it was even better the 2nd time around. The guy who played Zod was really good I thought, and Henry Cavill did Superman justice I think. I would really enjoy seeing a sequel made to this one. I also finally got around to watching "Spider-Man Homecoming" last week and really enjoyed that one as well. Michael Keaton played the villain The Vulture and he was really menacing and good in this movie. And of course Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man was great as always. The action scenes and special effects were incredible. I give this one two big thumbs up.
