I miss the video store!!!
The future is bleak with your choices being limited to suggestions based on an algorithm using your previous selection criteria.
YouTube is bizarre as heck now. Some videos you cannot use keywords to bring them up, at all. You must have precise title.
Censorship is bad. Censorship using a crowd sourced media platform is YouTube (Worse).
...
Another bizarre thing, my suggestions from Netflix are predominantly content created by Netflix or content created over a decade ago...
Greed is bad.
Amazon Prime used to kick ass. Now filled with subscribe to this also and you can watch that. At least Amazon has single rental option available for many films that I want to watch immediately.
IMHO Amazon and Netflix (streaming) are morphing , changing to be more akin to a crap cable channel subscription that you rarely watch unless you just feel like vegging to something you have already seen frequently.
Sweet, Beastmaster is on again !!!
On the bright side? Holy fuck, where did the time go?
Looking at release date on many films the question will likely arise to you... Da fuck? That movie came out twenty + years ago? Seems like yesterday.
...
Don't you recall going to the video store and seeing all the recent releases?
Corporate greed frequently fucks all customers.
Anyone seen the price for classic Coca-Cola recently?
...
Point of this thread creation was to hopefully get currently available film recommendations available through a streaming service.
Tired of scrolling through their bullshit suggestions created likely by some algorithm with enormous conflict of interest.
IE. More subscribers watching streaming service self created content keeps a lot of people employed even when the content is garbage.
How about the genius that thought of charging customers a monthly fee in order to watch re-runs of television shows that have already seen a first run and a subsequent repetition in syndication?
Sweet 15.99 per month and I can watch Friends re-runs to my hearts content!
...
When one corporation has a near monopoly the screwing becomes so commonplace nobody complains at all.
Even Blockbuster Video had some questionably legal routine practices as a matter of policy.
Because Blockbuster Video was technically a "family entertainment" business via policy many videocassettes were edited post production , release to comply with "Blockbuster Standards". Whatever the frick that means.
Basically if you have only seen the NC-17 , Unrated, or Directors Cut via a Blockbuster rental. From my own experience, unlikely that wasn't edited specifically for Blockbuster and you in fact have not seen all the footage.
...
Damn my soap box is breaking...
Netflix , Amazon Prime suggestions please

Computer algorithms are great for increasing profits, granted. So is giving a solitary Pepperoncinni instead of a small handful ...When you have millions of customers... Ask when I last ordered Papa-Johns, fuck if I know. Increase profits short-term, frick your customers, screw your company in long-term. I wager dollars to donuts that eventually Amazon will get cockier than Walmart , the changes are starting to show already. Though it boggles the mind how much share of online shopping Amazon holds. www.bigcommerce.com/blog/amazon-statistics/50 Percent

Sweet, Beastmaster is on again !!! Haha! This made me literally laugh out loud! As for Amazon Prime, I do not have it and do not plan to subscribe to it any time soon. I guess you could say that I am still feeling a little bitter for the shabby way that Amazon treated us on their forums. I give them as little of my money as I can anymore. I do still have my Netflix subscription though and here are just a few of the movies waiting to be watched in my que... "Iron Sky: The Coming Race" (A sequel to "Iron Sky", a tongue in cheek Nazis in Outer Space Action/Comedy), "Jupiter Ascending", "Doom: Annihilation" Movies that I would recommend watching on Netflix are, "Death Note", this one was really good, based on a popular Japanese Manga, it is the story of this college kid that befriends a Demon who kills his enemies for him. I highly recommend this one for those who haven't seen it yet. "Wet, Hot American Summer". This is a great classic comedy that Neflix even made a mini series of with much of the original cast returning to their roles. "Solo: A Star Wars Story". "Chappie". I will list some more later.

No spoilers. I don't Hate. I HATE spoilers to movies/films that I actually wanted to watch.Too include the 'friend' sitting near you who has already seen it saying "watch this part" just prior to something they particularly enjoyed. Dude? Really? What the Fuck do You Think I am Doing? Googling porn while viewing this?... Decent, random selection via Netflix Saying so, because not frequent to find ANYTHING randomly selected via Netflix that fits my generally believable and Decent Film... m.imdb.com/title/tt5716380/?ref_=fn_al_tt_0Thumper 2017It's no m.imdb.com/title/tt0283003/?ref_=fn_al_tt_0SpunOr m.imdb.com/title/tt0180093/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0Requiem for a DreamBut a decent, realistic film about drug abuse and accompanying insanity Certainly is not m.imdb.com/title/tt0102820/?ref_=m_nm_knf_act_i66RushIMHO Rush is by far one of the best film portrayals of drug usage and undercover police. ... Further Rock thanks for the suggestions...Try not to be so hard on Amazon, to your detriment of saving some 'coin'...Remember the 'climate' when Amazon shuttered their forums, at precisely that time 'social networks' were under scrutiny ...I see why they did what they did...I disagree , obviously ... If Amazon successfully created a 'social network' with public knowledge that Amazon was holding USER DATA in 'Better Confidence' than Facebook . Amazon to the Moon , Mars and Beyond. ... Seriously , could you imagine Amazon sales figures if Amazon had a 'social network' frequented as often as Facebook by users? We are hyperaware of the potential being former Amazon forums users. An Amazon branded social network would benefit Amazon in spades. ... Seriously , the gain versus investment coming from AWS is so obviously immensely lucrative that I just wish I would be even 'mildly compensated' if Amazon ever does it. It would set Amazon in concrete. I know beyond ANY doubt it would be a profitable venture, increasing sales and LOYALTY amongst Amazon consumers. Just wish I would be compensated if an Amazon exec ever understands and sets the wheels in motion to get it done. ... Watch what happens when Tesla successfully innovates, and mildly hijacks and corners internet access by being more cost efficient , available and ubiquitous. If Tesla successfully pulls this off, going to be huge! IMO Tesla will be a household name to eclipse Comcast, Apple and even AT&T ... I can clearly see Tesla becoming a behemoth. ... And personally , I wouldn't mind seeing a quirky geek like Elon at the helm of a behemoth. Unlike Bezos and Zuckerberg, I believe that Mr. Musk has a moral compass that prevents him from active approval or even participation in ANY activity regardless of profitability if he were to believe it could be significantly detrimental to humanity. Already known that Zuckerberg is well aware that Facebook intentionally intends to 'addict' its users via algorithms specifically programmed to do so. Think about that. IMO that is heinous. Though anyone truly aware knows Zuckerberg flat out commited the successfull crime of a lifetime when he stole the intellectual property that ultimately became "The Facebook". Expecting ANY moral compass from him now, would be akin to inviting 'The Scorpion' to ride on your back in order to safely cross the pond. ... You believe Amazon is bad now? Just watch how bad they will be within a decade. Even still, I would not neglect to use them especially if it saves you time plus money. ... Illustration Decades ago people complained about Walmart shuttering small business. Today Amazon is shuttering small business and neutering Walmart. ... Fuck it, who wants pie?

Amazon is doing to Walmart what Netflix did to Blockbuster.
Just watch what happens if Amazon grocery store pilot, becomes a nationwide physical store.
In my assessment , most likely.
Amazon 'brick and mortar' grocery stores ARE coming to a neighborhood near you.

Wet Hot American Summer
Watched yesterday , confused me...entertaining ...
Hard to force comedy...
Especially hard, when those independent comedy gems rarely occur anymore ...The planets must align just right for those , I suppose.
Additionally , in my preference , many of the independent gems don't age well.
...
For clarity though...
Stripes
Was entertaining and funny in a not laugh out loud funny way...

Wet Hot American Summer
Was a bit surreal ...I don't recall any plot at all
Nice to see a bunch of familiar faces, and odd scenarios attempting to be humorous ..
Bizarre film though , especially considering the gaggle of formerly quite popular comedians...
Bizarre

Bizarre film though , especially considering the gaggle of formerly quite popular comedians... Bizarre Hey, you actually watched it! Well, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I myself liked it so much that I have seen it a few times now, and even watched the mini series based on it a couple of times now. I love a good camp comedy and would rate this one up there with some of the best such as "Meatballs" starring Bill Murray, and "Ernest Goes to Camp" starring the great Jim Varney. Ahhh... Good times.

I know that you have probably seen the movie. Hands down, best movie that I know of in 'camp comedy' next to Friday the 13th.

I had completely forgotten about that one until you mentioned it just now. They used to play that one a lot on cable TV back in the day. That was a pretty fun camp comedy as well. Indian Summer
