Ah, that's a damn shame. It's an old show too. AMC should be letting people watch it for free on their web site with ads by now. Oh, well. Well it looks like the knuckleheads over at Netflix have thrown everyone a bone & made “The Walking Dead” available to ad subscribers now….l will now be giving it a look in the coming days…. You said the first five seasons….my cousin said the same thing….”just watch the first five”…..should be interesting… I have inadvertently caught some episodes from either season 6 or 7 back in 2016 because my daughter was hooked on the show….& this was right after l sold my previous house in 2015….she would come visit & turn it on…..one episode has this guy with a bat killing someone & that really bothered me….the scene was so brutal that l am amazed it got aired…. I think that is why l have ignored this show all these years. My cousin said he believes that turned a lot of viewers off & that was the show’s downfall….even my daughter stopped watching shortly after that. I made a post on Twitter awhile back about Netflix removing films left & right & how l am done with them….. Hopefully l can get through those seasons before Netflix decides to remove them too…. How is this the largest streaming site when all they do is constantly remove films & shows??😤 Yes, that episode with Negan bashing people's heads in with a bat was pretty brutal. Especially because the viewers had grown to love the characters that Negan killed with the bat. It was a hard scene to watch. The first 5 seasons are the best. Seasons 1 & 2 are really good, but seasons 3, 4, and 5 are great. Each episode left you wanting more and you couldn't wait to see what happens next. After season 5 things started to go downhill from there but I still kept up with it to the final season. I haven't watched any of the new spin-offs though. I hear that they are worth watching so I will have to catch up with those someday. |

Watched Season 1 of “The Walking Dead”….l did get into it….but l can tell they borrowed elements of “Lost”……Rooker’s redneck brother is a carbon copy of “Sawyer” on “Lost” & the main character who is a cop a carbon copy of “Jack” on “Lost”….however l don’t think that is a bad thing……I hated that the younger sister got killed (Emma Bell) although l knew that going in because she wanted to be in films & appeared in the suspense ski horror film “Frozen” the next year…..on to Season 2.

"The Walking Dead" is actually based on a popular comic book series. So "Lost" may have influenced the creator of the comic book? Rooker's (Merle Dixon) brother, Daryl Dixon however was never in the comic books. He was added into the show and became a fan favorite and is still doing episodes in his own spin-off series, as far as I know? I haven't really been keeping up with the spin-offs. |

My daughter said she stopped with the beginning of Season 7 of “The Walking Dead”…..the killing of character Glenn really pissed her off….she said she is still pissed about it….
Others have said the same….probably was not a good idea to kill off a main character like that….maybe if Negan would have gotten the same treatment they wouldn’t have lost so many viewers…sometimes shocking the audience can backfire….
“Lost” did that BS too…..they killed off Maggie Grace’s character because she did “Taken” with Liam Neeson….& Michelle Rodriguez (Fast Five) because she got a DUI in Hawaii where they were filming “Lost” Both went out the same way by being killed senselessly ..
At least have a main character go out with a bang.

Rick's son lived to be an old man, and he even got married in the comics. So, it didn't make sense for them to do that. They took too many liberties with this show by trying to shock the viewers. But, I still soldiered on and watched all eleven seasons just out of curiosity to see what they were going to do next. But nothing they did after season five, and even season six wasn't too bad. But after that, it was a struggle to keep up with it. I just saw a video about Daryl Dixon's spin-off series and people are saying that it is great, as good as the early seasons of the original series. So I will definitely have to check that one out. Negan and Maggie have their own spin-off series together too, but I haven't heard much about it yet? There are supposed to be some movies featuring Rick Grimes but, I don't know whatever is going on with that? I will look it up on You Tube and see if there's any info on it? |

I am midway into Season 2…..the little girl Sophia l was really hoping they would find….that scene was sad…..l am really getting into this show….the Dale character reminds me of Locke on “Lost” Jeffrey DeMunn who plays Dale is a great actor…he was also in “The Hitcher” with Rutger Hauer….he was Captain Etheridge. Will be wrapping Season 2 tonight & then onto Season 3….. |

I just discovered that instead of making movies featuring Rick Grimes, AMC made a mini-series starring him, and one of the characters in it is played by Terry O'Quinn from "Lost". Apparently, this mini-series came out last February. Which shows you just how out of the loop I have been in keeping up with TWD over the last couple of years. The show looks like it might be good. I saw that one. It wasn't too bad. The zombies turned way too fast for me though. It was still a good movie. The best zombie movies came out in the late 70's and 80's IMO... You are right “The Governor” is an interesting villain but you know l really felt bad for him when he was holding his daughter in sadness with that piece of glass in his eye….l am surprised he didn’t waste Merle on the spot in front of the townspeople….
Having been to Atlanta Georgia l will say the recreation was spot on…it is a populated city….not sure they would have been able to film there…but the recreation in Season 1 is spot on…
Woodbury they did film in…it is a real town.

Yep, he is a complex character and the more you get to know about his past, the more you know what drives him to do some of the things that he does. But he only gets even more ruthless and unhinged as the series progresses. The Governor, Shane, and Negan are all somewhat similar as they are all complex characters. |

They killed off Andrea 😭
The Governor reminds me a little bit of Anakin Skywalker & Kahn…
He was probably once a good father & husband & this whole zombie pandemic made him this bad guy….they do bad things but in their minds they think they are serving the greater good….
Rick & The Governor meeting one on one is reminiscent of Spartacus & Crassius meeting one on one in “Spartacus” Season 3
& Al Pacino’s cop meeting Robert DeNiro’s master thief in “Heat”
Definitely a cool show of respect between two adversaries….
I went on & bought the first 3 seasons…..Amazon has them priced high..
eBay sellers have new copies priced lower….got them on eBay for $11 to $12 each….
You Rock, my daughter & cousin got me hooked into this show….l wish now l had seen it sooner….

They really were not all that different….two family men thrown into a situation that neither wanted to be in with both having suffered the tragic loss of their wives….
That is the direction they should have gone…
Imagine Rick & The Governor taking on Negan later on…
Such a missed opportunity…
The Governor really wanted another family but his ego got the best of him.
This is what happens when you have to many chiefs (show runners) & not enough Indians running a show…
I think Frank Darabont who spearheaded the first season & was cut loose by AMC probably would have gone that direction..
Again such a missed opportunity….
I have to agree The Governor was a compelling character….

The Governor was just too good of a character to let go, I think. And yeah, him and Rick would have made a great team together against Negan later on. I don't think you have seen the last of the Governor yet though. From what I remember, I believe that he comes back to the series in an episode or two like prequel-type episodes, if I am not mistaken. |

You know killing off hot babes Lori & Andrea is bad enough but now sweet adorable Beth…they have gone to far now….l think it will be awhile before l watch Season 5….taking a break.
