There were rumors about Hollywood making a version of it years ago with talks of Beyonce possibly playing Ginger, but I don't know whatever happened to those plans? I have been saying for years now that there should be a big screen version of Gilligan's Island and why it hasn't happened yet is beyond me? I think it would have been a huge hit. Remember how well the Brady Bunch and Addams Family films did at the box office. Gilligan's Island is just a natural for the big screen. As for Ginger or Mary Ann, that's a toughie? But I found this over on Wikipedia and thought it was pretty interesting... "Ginger or Mary Ann? The question of which of these two characters men prefer has endured long after the end of the series. In 1978, Tina Louise was a guest star on "Dallas" which at the time was still a new show on t.v..... it was the second season where she is Cliff Barnes' secretary that gets used by both Cliff & J.R......because of her appearance here she was not able to do the "Rescue From Gillgan's Island" t.v. movie which came out in early 1979, Tina had not aged as well as Dawn Wells who was Mary Ann.....Dawn still looked almost the same, Tina did not....why is anyone's guess........ www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZU4ukbkoTM |

This film "The Accused" from 1988 with Jodie Foster clearly rips off the 1978 film "I spit on your Grave", Camille Keaton was likely blacklisted because of the film's controversial subject matter, but yet just ten years later they are giving Jodie Foster the Oscar for practically doing the same movie just with a different outcome & circumstances, the rape isn't as brutal, she doesn't kill her rapists, she demands the courts prosecute them instead....Camille should have had that Oscar...I will say though that Jodie Foster was sexy as hell in this....& did deserve the Oscar as well...& Clint Eastwood definately ripped off "I Spit on your Grave" with his "Dirty Harry" film "Sudden Impact" www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDujtATPuBk |
